Re-introducing the Ace Tone Fuzz Master FM-3 sound | Evil Eye FX WARG Hi-Gain Fuzz

It's always fun to encounter a circuit that I know little about, and the Fuzz Master FM-3 is just that; an obscure, vintage fuzz circuit from the 70s. It also happens to be an inspiring sound to the guys at Evil Eye FX, and their Warg Fuzz is a modernized recreation of the FM-3 with some nice tweaks and improvements.

Warg is definitely in the Big Muff camp, with that classic wall of sound saturation and - at times - sizzling, scooped tone. Warg, however, introduces a flat EQ mode that brings out more midrange fullness and warms up the circuit to deliver rich, present saturation with tons of body.

At the end of the day, I get excited about pedals that help direct or transform my writing and playing, and Warg took me in a fun direction. It's perfect for that pop punk / post-punk type sound that I love from bands like The Band Camino and others, and this fuzz pedal quickly took me in that direction. But if guitar riffs are your thing, I think this pedal comes pre-loaded. So much singing sustain and beautifully savage fuzz saturation to drench your rock riffs in.
