Devil`s wheel | Oktoberfest 2024 | Teufelsrad
Oktoberfest: The world's largest folk festival. The original Oktoberfest began in 1810 as part of the celebration for the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The celebration took place on a large open space near the city walls, which was later named Theresienwiese (Theresa's Meadow) in honor of the princess. This tradition has been kept alive annually, growing into the modern festival we know today.
Oktoberfest's atmosphere is defined by more than just beer and food; it’s also full of attractions that appeal to both children and adults. In addition to classic carousels, slides, and roller coasters, there are historical landmarks that add a unique flair to the festival.
Teufelsrad: The Devil's Wheel. Among the unique and vintage attractions at Oktoberfest is the Teufelsrad (Devil’s Wheel). This ride consists of a large wooden disk, which lies horizontally on the floor and spins at varying speeds. Participants sit in the center, and as the disk spins, they try to stay on as long as possible, despite increasing speed
